What should America's State Religion Be?

This isn't about convincing people of anything. It's about putting your opinions and your reasons for holding them on the table for public inspection. If people can understand your position fairly, then they can decide for themselves whether to convince themselves of it.
He did, and you refused, which is why I decided to get involved, in the hope that you might change your mind.
Some Christians, mainly the broad group known as Protestants, hold that it is up to the individual to figure out the Bible as best they can. Other Christians, mainly the priestly factions such as Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity, hold that it is up to the officials of that individual's church to interpret orthodoxy correctly.
Which is why God gave us a spark of Her Reason, the Logos, as well as language so that we might discuss our reasons and judge them.
I'd agree, that with God there is one right interpretation of the Bible and many wrong ones. The problem is knowing whether a particular interpretation of the Bible accurately reflects the Word of God. So far, historically and empirically speaking no single interpretation of the Bible has shown the truth of itself to be beyond reasonable doubt. That is, of course, where faith comes in as a pragmatic solution.

Well, I asked my mom why she can't take communion. She said it's because she's divorced. I asked why she didn't just get an anullment. She said because of us kiRAB because it would make us not valid.

And what you posted says if there were problems from the start. What if they simply decided they don't love each other? The first time, it was that. My mom decided she didn't like how much my dad went to parties and didn't want to live with him. The second time would fit the bill though. That time she only remarried him for money since she couldn't support herself. Now she's latched on to a rich boyfriend. Great morals that woman has.

And I vote "none" anyway. Or Hinduism...vegetarianism by law! kidding kidding

Since I have stated that I am not a religious man, I will not require that room or a ticket. However, referring to your statement between the first and second burst of perioRAB, it appears that you, as a "man of faith, but not a devout one", might have a problem.

Thanks, i6t was a genuine request on my part.

That was the site that I had read pertaining to the Constitutional Convention.
Here's another:

http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/religion/rel04.html also provides period documentation on the importance of religion to the fledgling country.

Are you familiar with Jefferson's Bill for Religious Freedom? Along with the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the UofVA, he considered it one of his greatest accomplishments. It starts out " Almighty God hath created the mind free; that all attempts to influence it by temporal punishments or burthens, or by civil incapacitations, tend only to beget habits of hypocricy and meanness...."
Just some food for thought for you. :)

Such as?

Do not bare false witness?
Thou shall not kill?

Once again, VOR does not believe in his religion, he merely uses it as a tool to advance his ill convicieved agenda.

Hi Hawk, my friend, you concern me greatly with posts like this on a number of levels. One being that our founding fathers designed our Government with freedom "of" or freedom "from" religion as equally faithful rights for all people. The last thing we as believers want is a state sanctioned religion because then the Government will be empowered with the ability to define that religion. And the first thing they would do is water it down to such an extent that God will be erased completely from it. We must defend the unbelievers right to reject God in whatever form they choose.

Also, for you to even mention Fred Phelps in the same sentence with the other men you referred to makes my skin crawl. Remember that homosexuals are in rebellion against GoRAB laws and His grace in no different a way than an adulterer, a rapist, a racist or an alcoholic. Each and every person alive is guilty of their own predominant sin which separates us from GoRAB perfection and holiness.

We all must take hold of and receive His grace which comes through Christ who is perfect and the unblemished lamb of God. We are to hate the sin, but love the sinner as we correct them with GoRAB truth, not our version of it. Fred Phelps is a hatemonger who condemns people by spreading hatred and self righteous judgments which he is in no position to make.

His hateful condemnation of homosexuals is not offered in the spirit of love which Jesus died to offer us. Homosexuals can be saved just as any other sinner can be saved if they repent of their sins against God. To condemn them with such anger as if they're hopelessly lost sinners isn't fair to them, the LorRAB love for them or the Gospel of salvation He came and died to give to us.

I must also add that John Hagee and James Dobson would strongly resent being referred to in the same sentence with Fred Phelps. I appreciate your enthusiasm for what is right, but you must find the empathy within you which God has for all of us as sinners in need of His Holy Spirit which we are to reflect by our actions. Please consider softening your tone and approaching these sinners with more of a Christ like attitude of love and compassion. I say this in love, not to judge or condemn you brother.

Really? I just like the entertainment of people being inconsistent on everything :xclown:

:xclown:

Yet how can it when people believe it is not infallable. A Christian believes God is infallable yet his Word is not? I don't think so. The Bible has to be 100% true or the Christian God jsut doesn't exist.

Blah, this converstation is obviously going no where...which is why I said there is no use

Oh yes, let's defile the consitution so more. So much for the bill of rights.

The entire notion of a state religion is rabidly aganist what the founders wanted. But then again, many people have litterally no concept of history.

I don't want to judge your mom, but the guidelines for an annulment are pretty vague and leave lots of wiggle room for those wanting an annulment. It isn't, however, an automatic process and does take some effort on the part of the Catholic wanting the annulment.

Funny how in the old days it was ok to be a Christian in this country and you understood that not everyone HAD to also. I also like the fact that the Christians who wrote it made it so that Their religion would NEVER enter into the equation. They probobaly read that freedom of choice clause in the bible and realised that if god gave that to mankind then they would be fools to think they could take it away from someone else.

Exactly. This quote says we shouldn't go conemning others, but does not justify continuing a life of sin. It is misused by liberals as much as conservatives, as some liberals say 'even if homosexuality is a sin, you're forgiven' which ignores the need to strive to live a sinless life.

As for Pagans, there are often many GoRAB as well as an all-encompassing Spirit, called by some God, which is both Creator and Creation.

While I'm comfortable with Catholic Doctrine, I'm very uncomfortable with the way in which the Catholic Church operates. 25 years ago, GM wanted to build a new plant in Hamtramck, MI. Properties were taken under eminent domain statutes (much like today).

Now, I wasn't living in Michigan at the time, but the thought of the Detroit Archdiocese selling out its parishoners the way it did left an indullable impression on this Catholic. The light went on and I had an epiphany. The Catholic Church was in the business of selling religion. I've never forgotten that lesson, but I am able to divorce the business of selling religion from the doctrine. I try to live the doctrine, but I'm very selective on "buying" the religion.

I notice Donoism is not on the list. Anyone wishing to convert should contact me in regard to their tithes and other donations. Bless you my children.
