In contrast to the 'worst remake' topic?

I think they should remake 'The Wizard of Oz' - that film is gagging for a big budget modern day special effects take, obviously the originals a Movie classic but with the right casting a remake could be sensational.

No way would I want a Wizard of Oz remake. It would destroy the magic, and they would probably get J-Lo or Halle Berry to play Dorothy. And make the Wicked Witch some bloodthirsty murderess.

lol It could be done if done tastefully. Judy Garland wasn't irreplacable, hell I even preferred Fairuza Balk as Dorothy in the 80s sequel 'Return to Oz' at least she was the right age.

I'd actually be very interested in a Wizard of Oz remake... with the right direction, casting and cinematography, could be worthwhile.

I'd like to remake Jersey Girl... in fact, here's the entire script!

I'm off to prepare my Oscar acceptance speech right now :D

Blasphemer! You're obviously not a friend of Dorothy :p

I'd like to see a remake of Dirty Dancing with me instead of Jennifer Gray :D Although Patrick's hips probably arent what they used to be :(

Can't see the point in remaking great films - for example, how could you improve Marathon Man (as requested above?)

Surely the ones to remake are great stories poorly executed though bad acting or direction.

I'm currently in the process of completely re-editing them to my own (and my g/f's) satisfaction. It all started by someone saying "You think you could do better yourself?" after I was bitching about Episode II, and it all went form there...

Oh dear, I appear to be a terminal fan-boy. :o

I'd like to see Harry Potter 3 and 4 remade - being faithful to the books. If that meant making 7-hour long epics, so be it! Or they could split each of them into two parts!

Lord of the Rings.

I enjoyed Jackson's version but he failed to tell the tale correctly, especially with regard to characterisation.

I'd like to see a more accurate interpretation, not faithful to the letter of course, that wouldn't work, but more faithful to the spirit of Tolkien's work.

Exactly, was just about to say that.

I know they are new, but the Tomb Raider films were such a waste and only good for a few action sequences. Could have been mind-blowing films...
