What PPI should I use?

I am printing some presentation material on glossy presentation paper. I am using Photoshop and have the PPI set to 300 now. My printer is a photo printer. Should I set the PPI higher? If so, how high? Thanks!

300 is exactly right and fine for your printer.

You could probably go down to 200 or 240 PPI and not see a big difference. (You'd have smaller files and be able to make larger prints).

In general:

Photos: 240-300 PPI
Charts etc. : 150-200 PPI
Text: 100-150PPI

Your medium is important too! Cheap paper absorbs more ink and high PPI will make things blurry as the ink mushes together.

News Print: 100 PPI (don't bother printing on this from a regular printer)

Plain Paper: 150 PPI or less
Matte Paper: 300 PPI or less.
Glossy Paper: 300 PPI or more.

EDIT: Also, the viewing distance matters too. If people will get 2 feet away or closer then go with a higher PPI like 240 or 300. If people will be 3-6 feet away you can easily get away with 200 PPI and if they will be more than 6 feet away just use 150.
