What movies suprised you?

Girl, Interrupted - I saw this movie first when I was battling depression, and I thought it really in some odd way it was like I identified a little bit with Susanna Kaysen, even though she had bordeline personality disorder. However, thru it all, she meets all these girls, and she learns a little bit more about herself with knowing these girls. It was so powerful and so moving. It is defintely one of those movies I can watch over and over again.

THe Ring-- when I saw it, it was before all the buzz, I didnt even really know what it was about. I loved it

Saw--not just another horror movie, scared the CRAP out of me!

Phantom of the opera-- I had HIGH expectations and it was even better than I thought!

THe Aviator--It suprised me that everyone said it was so good and I hated every agonizing minute of it

Garden State...I wanted to see this movie but I had a feeling I wasn't going to really like it...truth be told..I didnt entirely like the beginning but by the end I loved it

A movie I was suprised I didn't really like -

Troy- A lot of people thought it was ''amazing, an epic!'' and stuff like that but honestly, I thought it was kind of boring. There was lots of action scenes and stuff but I just thought they dragged on. I don't know, just me.

Pirates of the Carribean, I usually don´t like that type of movies but this one really surprised me, I liked it a lot!

One that also surprised me was The Village which I also really liked.

X-Men DEFINITELY surprised me. I waited years to even consider watching it because I really didn't think it would be the type of movie I would enjoy, despite a lot of my friends having already seen it. Then when I did, I fell in love with it. The cast and stories are amazing, and I now own the trilogy, with X2 being my firm favorite.

I recently watched Stay Alive, starring Sophia Bush and Jon Foster, which was enjoyable too. The video game is absolutely amazing throughout the movie.

Signs. I was really expecting to hate this film...because I detested The sixth sense.

I was blown away by Jaquin(sp?) Phoenix's performance!

I got the dvd by accident (dvd club) and instead of sending it back, I watched it.

What a great movie!

Oceans 11 - I thought I would really like this since I love the original and it had a really good and talented cast, but it sucked majory. It wasn't funny, it wasn't exiting and the performances were lackluster. Horrible, horrible film.

ITA. I wouldn't have watched it unless I was asked to go watch it as well. I was surprised at how good it was. Definitly my favourite animation to date. I think it's better than Finding Nemo, Shrek and Toy Story.

The Passion of the Christ was the movie that surprised me most. I've seen various religious movies portraying Christ, and have always managed to find something wrong until this one. I was curious to see what the controversy was about, so went with my friend and my mentor to see it the Sunday after its release. I was impressed by how realistic it was and how it maintained historical accuracy , and even found myself getting emotional during some scenes - something that hardly any movie has done for me before. I was also amazed at how much attention it generated.

Pirates of the Caribbean. I love that movie to pieces, and I would never have thought I would. I mean, a pirate movie? Based on a theme park ride? A BORING theme park ride? But if there's one thing I know about Johnny Depp it's that he has uncanny luck and picking good movies, so I saw it anyway. Now it's probably my most-watched DVDs.

Jurassic Park. Sure, it a lot of ways it was just another moster movie, but something about the music and the special effects combined to create a real sense of wonder for me. I so wanted to BE there with the dinosaurs.

Species surprised be twice. I went to see it because I was in the mood for something dumb. But then it was GOOD, with, like, dialogue and characters and stuff. But then halfway through it surprised be again by suddenly turning really bad and disintegrating into another really bad monster movie. After getting my hopes up like that! How rude!

Spiderman--I normally can't stand these kind of movies but for some reason this movie really grabbed me and made me a fan of the series.

Harry Potter - If you know anything about me I am a HUGE Harry Potter Fan ! but I wasn't at first. and when we went to see it with my school i didn't even want to go cause it looked dumb but i gotta say i was one of the most attentive people in the theatre..and now I love Harry Potter ;)

The Day After Tomorrow - I thought it would suck. When I saw the preview it didnt seem to grab my interest. But it was a great movie, the Special effects were amazing. It had 3 things that I love about movies Drama,Romance and Comedy. and Jake Gyllenhaal was just a perk ;) my only regret was not seeing it in theatres.

The Ring- totally surprised in the best way possible. my friends and i had planned to see red dragon but it wasn't in the theatres anymore so we saw the ring instead. me and my best friend are horror movie fanatics, they have to be really good to scare us somewhat and keep us interested and have us not guess the storyline because we've seen so much and the ring had us so enthralled in the storyline and scared at the end of it too. awesome movie, can't wait for the sequel.

stepford wives- there was bad reviews for this movie but me and 2 of my friends saw it anyway because it looked interesting to us and WE. LOVED IT. we saw it again a week later with another friend. out of my 6 close friends, we all have it on DVD now and watch it all the time. it is so hilarious, you should all watch it!!

Hehe, yeah. We all love Costigan. Speaking of surprises, I always knew Leo was an excellent actor, but his performance blew me away in The Departed. I was not expecting that level of awesome.

Smokin' Aces surprised me because it wasn't what I expected but I still loved it.

Kids in America - I bought it in the summer because Gregory Smith was in it and well..I thought hey, could be okay. I never wanted to watch it though when I was home everytime I looked at it I saw Nicole Richie on the cover with him and thought..this is going to be ridiculous possibly because I sometimes can't stand the girl. Finally this weekend I decided to watch it for the first time..It wasn't that bad, I actually quite enjoyed it and I didn't think Nicole was annoying at all in it..

Disturbia - Truthfully, I didn't think much of it when I rented it, it sounded quite stalkery and strange..but I enjoyed it..especially with Shia LaBeouf, it being my first time seeing him on screen and I thought he was fantastic in the movie

Crime + Punishment in Suburbia - I borrowed this movie from my sister a year ago and it stayed on my desk collecting dust until I brought it back to her, apparently it didn't strike my interest enough to watch it. I tried again last week..borrowed it and this weekend finally got the chance to watch it..So my main reason for wanting to watch this movie of course is Vincent Kartheiser and Monica Keena, who I think are wonderful actors! ..the movie of course was nothing what I expected, but I enjoyed it, the characters were quite believeable, especially her character..she was amazing in it.

The Dust Factory - My mother bought me this movie randomly years back...the name of it didn't really strike my interest..It took quite awhile before I actually watched it...and when I did, I thought it was a very cute movie and would be something that I could see myself writing. This of course was the first movie I had ever seen Hayden Panettiere in and I remember thinking..wow she's a good actress, she looked a lot younger then.

The Invisible - I KNEW I'd like this movie..I just didn't know how much I would like it..it really got to me, I dont know if it was the actors or the story but it surprised me at how much I truly loved this movie...I've read horrible reviews after horrible reviews and I can't help myself..this was just a movie I enjoyed very much...and even if everyone else in the world hated it, it didnt matter I loved it too much!

The Departed - The ending of course..I believe I gasped...all I wanted was to see poor Leo live..is he ever gonna do a movie where he lives? lol

Bang Bang You're Dead - Bought it for Randy Harrison...didn't know it would be such a great movie! I was kinda wowed by it..I believe I watched it twice in one day when I got it lol

The Thirst - Clare Kramer, Jeremy Sisto, Adam Baldwin, Tom Lenk...Vampire Movie..all things I love you know..this movie shocked me a lot..and that is because of the blood..when vampires turn other vampires in other movies blood doesnt squirt out of the person's neck in every direction, and then they bite their wrist and its doing the same thing and by the time they change the person the whole room as well as both their bodies are drenched in blood. I thought that was quite ridiculous and laughed out loud a lot LOL so..not exactly what I thought it would be..too much gory blood everywhere for me..

Home Room - I bought it knowing by reading the back and by the actors Busy Phillips and Erika Christensen being in it that I would like it..I never thought it would be one of the best movies I've seen. I wish it was more recognized and more people would see it. It was just amazing..in every way.
