I don't know much about stereos and I'm afraid I will buy something that will not work. My girlfriend has a cd player in her car, but unfortunately, its so old that it will not play burned cds. I would like to get her a more modern cd player, one that does play cds but I'm afraid of buying something that doesn't work.

I don't want anything fancy. In fact, I want the cheapest cd player available, as long as it plays burned cds

As long as it's a single-DIN CD player (which covers 95% of after-market head units) you can install it into the 1998 Intrepid using a mounting kit.

A single-DIN unit is about 2" tall and 7" wide. The other types of CD players are double-DIN (4" tall and 7" wide) and 1.5 DIN (not very common any more). These sizes will not fit in her car without major modification.

every aftermarket stereo will fit in ANY car, they made them that way for a reason..especially if the car was made before 2004 (thats when they started changing into built in dash stereos and such)

you will be fine, any stereo should fit just buy a mount kit for it so it fits in place perfectly.. you can get that at wal-mart for like 10 bucks
