I recently installed a sound system in my car.

I have 2 12's and a 2400watt amp and now i need to get a capacitor.

The problem is that I don't know what kind of capacitor I need that will support the 2400watt amp?

The kid above is right. Also, a cap is going to help "stiffen" your power flow. This will help from your lights from dimming when you're bumping really loud at night. I have a cap in my car and it doesn't drain the battery, because it shuts off when the car does.

Believe me, you want a cap with this big of a system.

none. a cap is junk. what a cap does is stores a charge. doesnt it make more sense that instead of storing a charge you can get that right from the battery? and a cap will drain your battery while it is sitting there overnight.

and last of all you dont give that cap enough time ever to charge up when youre "thumping". a cap is the same device that charges for a camera battery, if you can imagine how long you hear the whine before the flash is ready and then denote that to car audio saying you need 5 seconds for your amp to be ready for each beat. well you dont have that kind of time

The rough rule is 1000W RMS is equal to 1 far on a capacitor.
If this is set up correct it should not drain your battery over night and 1 kick from your subs will NOT drain the whole capacitor if it is set up correctly as for charge time it may take a little bit of time but installing a capacitor will take allot of strain off of your battery and alternator and helps improve pro long lifespan of your equipment.
