What is your favorite country that makes cartoons?

Sure your not thinking about China or Mexico?:p

Anywho I enjoy animation in general and don't really care where it comes from.

America, Canada and Japan... and there were some nice animations I saw from the UK, and there's a German animated film that looked interesting that I hadn't gotten to watching yet.

After studying its historical cartoons in-depth, I would have to say that my favorite animations come from China. Though it's not usually considered a hotbed of animation or experimental film, China has produced some amazing and unique visual styles over the years, and well as making great use of silent narratives and local music. This was largely because China spent so much of the twentieth century "in revolution." When literally everything in the country was changing, film and arts didn't want to be left behind, so they came up with stuff that no one in the world had ever seen the likes of before. It's amazing stuff. :)

Canada seems like a good all-rounder, with a healthy commercial industry and a strong independent community (thanks to its National Film Board). The USA leads the world when it comes to technological sophistication, but unfortunately its less mainstream animation never seems to have had the support of an organisation comparable to the National Film Board of Canada or the British Channel 4.

Japan has its massive industry, and its indies seem to be getting more attention in the international scene lately, what with two Japanese shorts getting Oscar nods in the past few years (and one winning).
