What is the size of your physical and digital music collection?

I think it's fair to say most of us are including MP3s ripped from our own CRAB when talking about digital libraries. Glad to have someone else on board that values physical albums though.

Now of course, there are many youguns here who have 50 MP3 albums for every actual CD they own. :p:

I have 4623 songs -- 26.21 gigs. Lately, however, I have been downloading variable bit rate versions of my albums to make them better quality/bigger files...

I have about 50-100 recorRAB which my parents gave me. A lot of sick old Rush and The Who... good times.

Anyways, I started my personal music collection when I was 14, so at about 17 to have that many songs is pretty good.

I don't know how or if it's even possible.

Might it be legal for you to download these albums from elsewhere as you've already bought them? Depending on what you bought, that might be the easiest solution.

I'll admit it is pretty high maintenance in terms of tagging and sorting and stuff. The good thing is that my mate keeps a copy of all my music so I'm safe should anything go amiss.

This is the way i was going to go but i can't for the life of me work out how to back up just my music folder alone, it keeps making me back up my entore hardrive AND my C-drive with all my programs and stuff.
Plus, i'm going to need some more DVD's.

holy ****, i am so ultra protective of my collection. i find it hard to let others look at them for fear of a folded booklet. i hold them on the edges...and if i could put my collection in a protective vacuum charaber, i would totally do it.

I hardly have any music on my computer. I own about 200 vinyl recorRAB, maybe a few more cd's and about 100 cassettes which is still too much as far as I'm concerned. I try to keep my collection somewhat small so when I tire of something I usually sell it or give it away. I think I've held on to the cassettes for sentimental reasons since I don't really listen to them anymore.

I googled it quickly to see if I was right or wrong, and I got people debating over both sides, so now I'm very confused. English is serious business.

how old are you? i've been hungrily devouring music since i was 14 and now i'm 24...i imagine my music collection to be even more intimidating in another 10 years time.

if you are, say, 16 with that kind of music collection i can't imagine you have enough time to listen to much of that with any sort of real appreciation. but, from some of the posts i've read from you, i don't think you are 16...

I struggle to sort the names of 1718 songs :D But I suppose it isn't like you just woke up to having 100,000 songs. That's a pretty wise idea, especially with that amount of music. I'd be devastated if I lost that. :(
