What is the most Shocking Scene?

You might be interested in Wolf Creek, an earlier film by the same director, which is based on a true story. (Rather freely based on, admittedly.) In some ways it is more plausible because of its smaller scale. I never really understood how the Hostel could tout for business without getting caught.

Did anyone not mention the Hobling scene from Misery (1990) where the psycho nurse Kathy Bates hits a hammer on James Caan's feet and it is shown really close-up as well with the foot being bent over as Kathy's character hits his ankles. Very painful scene to watch but exciting at the same time

What I don't like is when filmmakers deliberately overstep the mark with the content, either because they're getting a sadistic kick out of it themselves or because they actually do want to disgust the audience. I don't see the point in making a film where the audience are going to be literally disgusted with what's onscreen. Shocking an audience is fine, but stuff like an unnecessariliy prolonged torture or rape scene isn't shocking in an entertaining way, it's sole purpose is to provoke controversy (unless, like I said, it's the sadistic director)

If you were upset about the (alleged faked monkey scene) in Faces, try watching some real stomach churning, upsetting footage,
Okay, this might not be a film but www.peta2.com has some real disturbing and inhuman acts of cruelty on animals. See videos of animals skinned alive in front of audiences for their fur, cows put in a machine, turned upside down with their throats slit, then their throat pulled out, dispensed the other side walking out gagging for air. Some evil s*** goes on in this world.

I also agree the turtle scene in 'Cannibal holocaust' was very disturbing and unnecessary.

gangster no 1 (i think) when at the moment of climax he pulls out a gun and blows the girls head off

also all male rape scenes the 2 main offenders scum and american history x

Yep, that's the one I gave the link for on IMDB. People talk about Hostel being gruesome but many people wouldn't be able to watch "Flowers".
Hostel, The Hills Have Eyes, Saw... these are all pretty tame mainstream films. If people want to test themselves they should watch the Guinea Pig films.

Found the 3 august films on TV link the other day.I thought I was unshockable. The christmas eve home invasion had to be one of the worst bits.felt like burning my pc after watching it.

I can't watch the opening of Cliffhanger. Not because I know its not worth investing time in such utter bilge, but because the seen where the woman falls to her death is unbearable

Some good ones here

Assault on Precinct 13 - where a child bites a bullet while buying an ice cream is pretty shocking in its way as kiRAB rarely die in films (onscreen anyway).

I saw a New Zealand thriller called Out of the Blue on the plane to NZ recently which has yet to be released here. It's a naturalistically shot film about NZ's worst killer who gunned down 13 people. It's brilliantly made, almost painful to watch and urinates over most of Wolf Creek when it comes to intensity.
Look out for it.

I can't watch Battle Royale again, the entire premise for the film was too much for me and at the start when you see the previous winner is just... disturbing.
