What is the most Shocking Scene?

'Man Behind the Sun' - A very real cat is thrown into a pit full of very real starving rats and is filmed being eaten alive. Although I have not nor have any intention of seeing this film and it's cruelty to animals, it sounRAB pretty shocking to me. Apparently the director has stated the scene is not faked and has a 'meaning', whatever that is.

The child molestation scene in Mysterious Skin, although you don't actually see it in graphic detail the way it is told through the boys face is enough to make you vomit ten times over.

That's why I found the whole thing so incredibly disappointing though. The situation was great but the characters were just lousy frat-boy stereotypes who you just couldn't care about.

The ankle scene in, misery.

The, ''Is it safe'' scene in, Marathon man.

Various scenes from, Cannibal holocaust.

Rape scene in, Deliverence.

That scene from, The Shining, where Jack realises he was kissing an old rotting hag.

Scene from, Robocop where Emile drives into the toxic waste tank.

All of, The Fly (1986).

You hit the nail on the head with that Irreversible reference.I've seen hundreRAB of films over the years that were hard to stomach, but Irreversible was the only one that I absolutely had to switch off because it was so heinous. There was an earlier scene where a guy gets his head pounded to mush by a fire extinguisher and I thought that was the worst thing I'd ever seen, but that rape scene was more than I could handle.

Horrible film with some of the most gratuitous and graphic violence I've ever had the misfortune to witness.Reservoir Dogs is like Mary Poppins compared to this gruesome movie.

Cannibal Holocaust in the UK has over 6 minutes of cuts.

Every single scene that the movie is famous for is cut to some extent.

The UK version is pointless as are the UK releases of I Spit On Your Grave and House ON the Edge of the Park(15 minutes cut) and Island of Death

Ah yes Wolf Creek..I forgot about that one. I've seen it and commented on a thread about it at the time. You're right it was a disturbing film and very realistic.

The fact that there were few actors in it and it remained tense throughout, says much about it.

;14694164']One of the most shocking scenes I've ever seen in a movie was in Heavenly Creatures. The scene is where the two girls club their mother to death.

In any other film between different characters this probably wouldn't have bothered me, but the fact it was their mother that got to me.

The whole rape scene in the hills have eyes remake was brutal and pretty shocking. If you have seen the rambo 4 trailor you will know what I mean when I say the 50 cal bit.

i would also vote for Wolf Creek. Not any scene in particular but (as i saw the film without knowing anything about it) watching Mick turn from being quite likeable, and the kind of character that would be comic relief in a lesser film, to a psychopathic killer is very chilling.

Others to mention would be:
Casino - Joe Pesci's death, the 'head in the vice' scene
Scarface- the chainsaw scene
Goodfellas- where all those who are involved in the robbery are killed off.
Hostel- when Oli is shown to be decapitated

Hellrasier2... the whole 'skinless' people was done so well considering the age of the film!

Damn good movie as well!

Someone earlier mentioned the rape scene in Irreversiable... thats not nice to watch, but I think the scene involving the fire extiguisher and the guys head is even worse. Watched it a couple of times and it's done so well (looks a bit too real!)
