what is the difference between EDUCATED AND LEARNED?

in my english class today my instructor asked me the difference between an educated person and a learned person?
 
Educated does not nescesarily mean learned. I'm educated in chemistry but I haven't learned the formulas and stuff. I'm educated in English Grammer and have learned how to form sentences and such correctly.
 
They are synonyms. If you teach says there is a difference, then go with it, but that difference will only exist in his class room. Not in regular english in the rest of the world.

My answer (to get credit) would be educated implies an educator. You learned from someone else. Someone provided you with education. Learned just implies that you've learned either from someone else or from your own experiences.
 
Learned means they have a lot of knowledge acquired from different things and in different subject areas.

Educated means they had a good education.
 
Maybe one means they have knowledge gained through experience, and the other knowledge gained through books? But I thought they meant the same thing.
