Like you i will always call "Ho Chi Minh" Saigon , the culture is still Vietnamese with a strong western influence (more so than Hanoi) . I say Vietnamese meaning strong Buddhist beliefs which i embraced and still follow . Look up religion in Vietnam and you will find all you need .
