Root Mean Square is the effective value of alternating current electrical power compared to direct current power...its the true power an amp will produce and the true power a speaker will handle....lets say you buy an amp that says 2000 max power....thats the maximun power it produced before failing when they tested the amp in a lab....watts rms is the continous power you will get from that amp....the same applies to speakers....
