I am Ethiopian and was born in America. I never learned the Ethiopian language so I think that could be one of the reasons why I haven't felt that much connected to the Ethiopian culture. The thing is, I go to an Ethiopian church pretty much every week and I've visited Ethiopia as well (it was OK).
And now I have a fascination with Indian culture, and feel more attracted to it than my own even though the Ethiopian culture is just as rich, or even more so. I would like to say that this would have happened anyway at some time or another, because I've liked similar things (i.e. art, bright clothes, etc.) before I've ever been attracted to the Indian culture.
I don't think I'm totally rejecting my roots (there's still some things I like), but do you think this is bad/wrong/strange?
