What has happened to manners?

'i have a two week training in a different city, I decided to stay in a good hotel which is safe and in a very good location because I'm alone and I'm sick of cheap bad hotels. The receptionist was like oooooh! you're going to stay for 14 days!! I said yes. He was like ooooooooh! quite a while!!
Well, first of all it's not such a high class hotel or anything it's just better than average and second of all, I thought he should have be grateful that I'm staying with them. Then he went on to ask what am I there for and stuff. Is it the new way of welcoming costumers?

First off- Yes,what has happened to manners ? His especially ! OOOOOOOH ! is so inappropriate ! It is none of his business what you are there for and stuff ? ! You ar a single woman traveling alone and would never give out that info to a desk clerk. Upon arrival if I was asked again I would only state I am working for awhile. The End !
Maybe you should try a different motel.

that was very rude of the receptionist of the hotel to say to you. I would never stay there again. it is none of his business why you are staying there. manners went out the door. I have a friend who is my landlord and always wants to know my business that now we hardly even talk and her husband thinks she does nothing wrong. even other friends of mine hardly talk with her either

Complain to the manager. If they are being that forward and informal then the hotel either has a problem with their staff showing proper regard towards their patrons or that particular staff member was trying to flirt with you.

Nothing wrong in them asking you , what u are there for.

They may have services there at the hotel, which can facilitate you. in your stay.

So for example...........

If you said, u were there on business, after being asked. They tell you they have internet services, laundry services for your business outfits etc
If you said, u were there on a holiday after being asked. In particular to go to the casino to gamble. Then they say they have a shuttle service going direct to the casino.

They ask, so they can make your stay more comfortable. They have facilities for different types of people who have different reasons for staying.

Complete over reaction by you.

If you said u were there for a holiday after being asked, they also could have offered the facility of the tour desk, who could organise day trips for you at your request.

Your failure to recognise this, is your flaw, not the hotels.

Curiosity, an misguided attempt to seem interested and friendly, or even company policy could account for the questions...

Let it go, enjoy your stay, and just wave at him as you pass through the lobby...
