What film most disappointed you?

Battle Royale 2 , I absolutely loved the first film but the sequel is one of the biggest piles of crap I have ever seen. Oh, can I say the LOTR films are brilliant but there is always a "trendy" backlash to great films.

How true, a movie starring Tom Cruise is enough reason for me to avoid it (if I can help it that is, the other half just loves him  ).

Last movie with the Cruister as the main star that I liked to a certain degree was Mission: Impossible.
Had to phrase it this was as Magnolia was suberb, but he only had a small part. :)

Probably upset a lot of people but all the Lord of the rings films. They didn't match the hype.

Special effects alone do not carry a movie I just couldn't get emotionally attached to the characters and ended up not caring about what happened. And some of the dialogue was total bollo*ks!

The 2nd Matrix film - a total pile of crap when compared to the original.

I didnt like it either .. . and i didnt 'get' it

I was also dissapointed with 'The Others' with Nicole Kidman. I thought it would be a lot better than it was - and found it very slow.

Agreed!! I went to see the original when I was 5 in 1978 (i think) and I was hooked immediately and saw the 3 originals hundreRAB of times so when I heard they were making more (prequels) I just couldn't contain my excitement ... until I actually saw it. The biggest disappointment in my life EVER. George Lucas should have left well alone.

How can you say that when you heard of the prequals you 'couldn't contain you excitement', then after being disappointed you say GL should have left well alone.

You can't have it both ways.

I'd like to speak for myself and others (if I may) and say that I'm not saying i didn't like LOTR to be 'trendy', I just didn't like it and thats that!!! I wanted to and thought I would but found it utterly boring.
Some people don't like those films, get over it!!

I have read the first book and found it very tedious. I actually preferred the film (and that's very unusual!) Personally, I find the books vastly overrated and while I enjoyed the films, I couldn't say they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Vast armies of CG characters don't really do it for me and the second film was about 80% padding.

Everybody goes on about Star Wars Episode 1 - personally, it didn't fall far short of my expectations which were based on Return of the Jedi. Now that was a disappointing film - too much like The Muppet Show for my liking and not nearly as good as 1 & 2 (or 4 & 5, I suppose).

So for me, I'd rank the Star Wars films thus:

Star Wars - excellent
The Empire Strikes Back - excellent
Attack of the Clones - pretty good
Return of the Jedi - reasonable
The Phantom Menace - reasonable

Would have to agree with you about the books there, they are akin tor reading porridge ie stodgy and rather hard to stomach. The Hobbit is far superior and is a wonderful work of fiction.

I'm not sure I would rank AOTC above Jedi tho', but the first two are by far and away the best.

I did try to read the book but found it far too boring. I was really looking forward to the film as it really appealed to me and would tell me the story in a more enjoyable format. Boy was I wrong.

Sorry, all you LOTR fans, I understand why you all love it, my sister watches it about 3 times a day but for me it was a bad experience. I thought that was the point of this thread, to list films that most disappointed us not to be dissed for not liking LOTR!!!!

Point taken Blackadder but you know what it's like when you get excited about something and have your bubble burst. I'd waited long and hard for those ....
