What film most disappointed you?

This is my first ever post, so hello to all DigitalSpy users.

What film has most disappointed you, for any reason, and why?
I watched Mystic River last night expecting to see fantastic acting and a gripping storyline. What I actually got was fairly average acting (in no way deserving of the two Oscars it got) and a 'whodunnit' that I guessed exactly about an hour from the end. In fact, the more I think about it, the more distinctly average it is. Not at all deserving of the hype it got on its cinema release.

How about you?

kill bill. my other half made me watch it the other night. it was a load of rubbish. the fight scene with the 88 club (or what every they were called) just went on and on. you knew she would kill everyone because of the sequel. all that kung fu stuff has been done to death now.

Must agree with the Lord of the Rings, went to see it with my little bro and my hubby, was really looking forward to it and at the end, all three of us stood up and agreed what total crap it was.

Felt like there was 3 hours of my life I will never get back.

Was also dissapointed with Shrek 2, not a bad film but nothing compared to the original - Puss in Boots saved it, he should get his own film!!

One of the ones that really disappointed me in the last years was The World Is Not Enough.

I love the Bond franchise and Tomorrow Never Dies was a magnificent movie, my second most favourite Bond movie even (The Spy Who Loved Me is still top of the list).

But TWINE was really bad; no megalomaniac who wants to take over the world, no near invincible henchman and other typical Bond things.
Not only a bad Bond movie, but a bad movie full stop.

I'll add my vote to those who were disappointed with Matrix Revolutions - just appeared to be a bit 'thrown together'.

As far as Lord of The Rings goes, I cant understand how anyone could be disppointed by them!! Mind you, I read the books a few years ago so maybe I just had a better idea of what to expect before watching the films.

Couldn't disagree more with you on these films. LOTR crap!!. Thats a bit strong. Okay you didn't like it but it can't be called crap.

Shrek 2 was excellant and Donkey rules. 'Are we there yet' had me in stitches, and still makes me smile thinking about now :D :D

In terms of very recent films, 'The Terminal' was disappointing as it confirmed that while Spielberg can make any films he likes right now, he is clearly happy to make sentimental old tosh with Tom the Pudding Face Hanks.

'The Terminal' had some redeeming qualities and made me laugh and smile from time to time but the irredeemably bad 'The Chronicles of Riddick' was just dreadful. A prime example of taking a low budget film like Pitch Black, blasting millions of dollars at it and finding that you're left with a big, old expensive mess (Blair Witch 2 anyone!).

Finally, 'King Arthur', a good director, a fine cast but a bad film and sadly one in the eye for those who thought that Clive Owen could do big budget charisma.

The Matrix Reloaded. I was expecting a great film (I hadn't read any of the hype, so didn't know any better) and saw possibly the biggest pile of trash I had ever seen (well, until I saw Spiderman 2 this week). I wasn't expecting much for Revolutions after that, but it was awful, but at least I wasn't dissapointed!

On the positive side, I have been surprised a few times recently. Both Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Intolerable Cruelty were fantastic, even tho' I wasn't expecting much.

Shrek 2 was fab, have to disagree with anyone who has said otherwise. LOTR; well the first one I loved so much I went to see it 3 times(nerd I know), the second one was ok and the third was a big let down. I didn't connect with Frodo at all, I was more interested in Arganon (ok can't remember his name in real life or the movie he was the ranger who had the thing with Liv Tyler). Arthur as I've discussed at great length on a different thread was a waste of time.

Resident Evil - As a BIG, BIG Resi fan; I was shattered that the movie lacked had any connection to the breathtaking video games.

Hope the Silent Hill movie does not end up like this.

Eyes Wide Shut. Despite having an almost pathological hatered of Tom Cruise I still thought this might be ok,it being a Kubrick film and all but no total waste.

The remake of 'The time machine'. A travesty. terrible film, and to think the original was one of my fav films ever.

and welcome to the forum gashead! :)

The film I looked forward to the most, ever, was Austin Powers In Goldmember. It didn't raise one laugh when I finally saw it, but with repeated views on DVD etc it's much better.
