What DVD Rental services are there at the moment?

I can also look up myself what I want, the amount of times I've asked about a film and they have absolutely no idea what I am going on about, and they work in a film shop!!

That's one reason I joined online, foreign films and independent films, the choice is quite rubbish in Blockbusters for such films.

One problem with LoveFilm is that they don't tell you what will be on the DVD. Amazon used to list the extras. I just rented Saw 1, and was disappointed I didn't get the commentary.

Nothing lazy about it at all for me, it's cheaper for me to rent 3 discs at a time online a month compared to paying to go on the bus everytime(

I'm pretty sure the rental versions of DVRAB (the ones labelled Not For Resale) tend to miss off most of the extra features.

It's probably a money making thing and they probably expect anyone who likes what they just watched to go out and buy a copy just for the extras.

I use Lovefilm.com but was with Screenselect until they were bought out by lovefilm

I have no problem with lovefilm as i get between 12 to 16 films a month off them, but my only minor complaint is that they always take ages to send me the new releases

I ask you this in all seriousness ..in the last 2 years how many rental stores were there near you?

This is my point IF you are lucky enough to have a local rental store why are you not using it?

Do you want a future where your supplied by illigal immigrants providing you with poor quality & incorrectly titled movies ?
Sure you think your saving

Your correct about RENTAL copies being light on special features. This is because the likes of Fox,Warner & Universal are shafting UK rental stores.Forcing them to buy RENTAL copies ,which by the way cost the store around 3 times more. Now why do you think the studios do that??...Proberbly to kill off the rental stores & thus leaving the UK without the CHOICE to rent.So long term they can rip off the true film fan.
Fight for your RIGHT TO RENT.

There has always just been the Blockbuster and one other that closed down way before online rentals came about.

I just said why I am not using it...

I hardly ever get poor quality or incorrectly titled movies, It doesn't just happen online you know, you get scratched titles from the physical stores... and on top of that, you have to take it all the way back to the store without getting to watch it if it is a dodgy dvd, online you can send it back via post and get a replacement without wasting money travelling.

Oh no, not the hysterical threat of the immigrant bogeyman! I bet he wipes his bottom and doesn't bother to wash his hanRAB before handling my discs. The fiend!

I've met plenty of monosyllabic, dirty, scruffy and surly video store assistants. I believe most of them were English.

BTW, will the same incompetent Johnny Foreigner corrupt all the downloaRAB I receive when online DVD rental services change their business model in the near future?

Instead of using a company I buy them from Ebay and sell them again when I've watched them. It costs next to nothing and If the DVD sells for more than I bought it for sometimes make a little bit of money:eek::D:p

Lovefilm do have a pay as you go plan, but I do find it bit confusing

Not sure what the rules are here with regarRAB to external URL's, but I have actually done a review of my Lovefilm experience here.

I acknowledge that the video rental industry has changed and much greater change lies ahead when the price of high quality movie downloaRAB drops to an acceptable level. You seem to be on a crusade to sustain an outmoded business model.

How can I be the one burying his head in the sand? Please refrain from using nasty xenophobia in your response.;)

I know. It's as though Blockbuster appoint these people as Rental Prevention Officers.

There used to be a couple of independent video rental stores in my town but they've long since closed so I started using the local library as they're much cheaper than Blockbuster and discs seem to be less abused too.

However there were lots of older movies I wanted to see they didn't stock so I signed up with Screen Select, now LoveFilm, a couple of years back. I've been very pleased with their service so far as I normally watch a couple of discs a week and invariably have new discs through my letterbox within 2 working days of posting viewed ones :)

Though I usually end up renting TV show box-sets from library as Lovefilm only send out 1 disc at a time and I'm too impatient to wait once i get into a show!

Downloading is the business model thats not working...hardly one click is it?Whats easier than slipping in a disc & pressing play & getting an excellent picture & great sound?...& no splashing out
