What do you think of 'R.V. In A Barn' Appalachia poem?

'Why don't we have a house
On a hill like that, Jim? '
'We're paying off the R.V.,
Maude.'

Hill she got, wooden house, land.
Laying chickens, tomato garden.
Friendliest neighbors, swapping recipes.
Jim settled in. By degrees.

Fields laying fallow. R.V. in the barn.
Maude stirred pots. Bisquits warm, high,
Slathered in honey, inside and out.
Still, her Jim had a nasty doubt.

Maude's new song would age too soon.
Manhatten's Avenues yelling, demanding,
'Come back! Back! Clothes. Jewels.
You'll miss the condo, never those mules! '

She got a rusted plowshare, hammer, chisel.
Jim bought seeds, boots. No eyebrows raised.
Spring answered all, on their red-soil lands...
Boots, Holly Hobbie Bonnets, calloused hands

Made one year come and fifty go,
With quilts, chimney days, crops to spare.
Jim and Maude, rockered, swapping stories,
Forgot their R.V., covered in morning glories.
Regwah...WELL, Moses COULD have asked for directions! Obstinate ole cuss!!!

Good Morning!

An enjoyable read, you spin great story lines, Fourth stanza, moved my thoughts away for a bit, to recall Albert and Gabor TV show, bringing faces to your words, that I'd rather have removed from my mind, and they vanished by the next stanza.

So what really matters in life? Are you rueing your camper parked with weeds beginning to sprout? lol I would say that some boots are made to walk, while others are made to dig in but as to enjoying life...which pair of boots would you buy? Liked the line: made one year come...fifty go. A good read.

Cool, I can picture that RV in it's permanent resting place, I have seen many like it.

Beats wandering around for forty years looking for a home.
Grow your own milk & honey.

hehe...
Good morning.

This made me reminisce about my grandparent's farm in Tennessee. The red-soil lands, quilts, homemade biscuits, etc. all brought back some fond memories. My old granny will be 99 this year and still lives alone. God bless her. Anyway, good writing this morning. Perfect read with my hot coffee. Thanks for sharing!

Because I love your writing, and for other, more personal reasons, this poem amazed me.
