We recently switched to a new Family Practitioner, a lovely, and vibrant, women. I had been reading an article that said the "old school" practice of taking temperatures rectally and scheduled enemas has found renewed favor. After all of us had our exams during which by the way, my temperature, as well as my kids' (girls 17 and 14 and boy 11) were all taken rectally, she recommended that we go back to using rectal temps at home, and that she was familiar with the study and article, and that we schedule temperature checks 3 times weekly (done rectally) and that the kids (if not I as well) receive one 2qt warm water and castile soap enema per week, followed by a simple 2qt warm water rinse enema. I have to admit I went to her practice because she is eclectic and alternative in part, and I have definitely not opposed to doing this, but before I get started, I could use some input on how to make this experience as comfortable as possible for the kids, how to approach them with it, the best ways to give them, position, (state of dress or undress etc) any and all suggestions and experiences would be greatly appreciated! And, NO! I am not whacked out! Everything I have read recently in every natural and alternative magazine says this is coming back into mainstream and is good! Hated it when I was a kid, but I was always in good health!
