Psychology please answer.? I have this neighbor who seems to be mentally disturbed.
I think he has major issues.
Here is his description:
-Collects so much junk and puts it all over his yard.
-He lives alone with one dog.
-He lives in the woods in a shack-looking house.
-He is always dirty and wears the same thing over and over again(mainly plaid)
-He is very anti social.
-Hates when our dogs get on his property.
-He slit my dog's throat last year because he came into his yard.
-He burns alot of tires?
-(possibly doing meth?)
-He has mowed his lawn at 3 am before.
-He is always burning something.
-He is very gruff looking with long hair always in pony and a long beard.
-He is petite.
-He is freaky.

If this sounds anything like a mental issue please feel free to give some insight.
 
Over the years, I have met a couple of people like that. I've never really wondered as of why since we all have those or a milder version of "skeletons" in the closet but what disturbs me of this man that you describe is, that he "slit your dog's throat" on one occasion. He sounds like a "passive aggressive" character and did you even call the police to report what he did to your dog?
 
Of course a mental evaluation would have to be done before officially diagnosing anything... but from what I can tell, my guess is that he would suffer from an Axis II, Cluster A personality type disorder. Things that would fall under this would be Schizophrenia, Schizoid, or Schizoaffective disorder.

Its possible that he's just a mean man however...
 
I've never been to school for psychology, but becoming a psychologist is my dream job. I've studied it online, and also watched many college classes online.

What I think, First off he is most definetly on drugs. (Meth from my opinion) My husband used to do meth all the time (I myself have never tried it) He was very skinny and petite, would do odd things in the middle of the night due to excess energy (like mowing the lawn at 3am) Meth addicts tend to collect things, and become pack rats, so they can sell those things to get money for tweak, they also tend to think "everything " can be used for something He probably cannot keep a relationship (why he lives alone with a dog) and I dont know of many woman who would try to hook up with him from the sounds of him. Living in the woods could be be from something other then the meth. he sounds like he cannot handle being around people and has some social problems (wich would be an atribute to him doing Meth) Meth addicts aren't always dirty, (They become very picky about thinsg ,some of them become over crazed about being clean) but him being very dirty is because he just doesn't care about life, and has no self respect. He doesn't want Dogs on his property because it will bring people to his property (who are looking for his dogs) wich could give him away wit his drug habbits. (Tweakers tend to stay together, They dont hang around people who don't do that drug) (For example, when my husband became clean...The group he lived with who did this drug wanted NOTHING to do with him and kicked him out, he was homless for a year but he was "clean" )

When on tweak people do insane things, like slitting your dogs throat would be an excentric act a meth user would do (I would SERIOUSLY report him to the police for killing your dog, that's not right of him to do that)

I dont think he's buring tires, i think he's either making tweak/Meth or smoking alot of it. It gives off a weird chemical smell that is so awful i can't even tell you. (I've been around it alot)

It sounsd to me that he is mentally ill to begin with, and a heavey meth user (NOT a good combination, but using meth is never good)

I would report him to the police, He could hurt somebody. If he's killing animals, what if a little child wonders onto his property? He would surely hurt them. Most killers start off killing animals, and if he's on tweak he wont think twice about killing a person. He's already crossed that line....

you can report him without him ever knowing, and i'm sure there are MANY other neighbors who notice this strange behavoir. I doubt he would know who it was, Not to mention even if he did, he would be in jail for a long time probably (unless this is his first offence)

Please, for your safetly, and the neigborhood kids and pets, report this troubled person. It could even save his life, and turn him around.
