What Do People Really Think About Twilight??

I have just watched the first Twilight movie on Blu-Ray having rented it from Lovefilm.

Being a Hammer fan I was flabbergasted to see in this movie a totally different type of Vampire who isnt affected by the suns rays!!

Methinks that this version is for a very younger generation (I was born post-war) so obviously they dont know much about the oldie vampire folklore (read Bram Stokers Dracula one of the finest gothic novels ever written) and the writers have taken liberties with the vampire legend.

Unless I am missing something here.

Must admit I did find much of the movie enjoyable, although dreary in some scenes. Maybe am old fashioned, but I did suspect that the tone of the movie was for the teeny weeny audiences. If that is so, then I am afraid I wont be watching any follow ups.

Still, it was well made and acted.

I wouldn't touch it and its ilk with a bargepole. Just like people, there's long been a surfeit of this kind of movie dreck that the world no longer either neeRAB nor can sustain.

Well acted? Did we watch the same film? The poorly written book became a badly acted movie. The acting was TERRIBLE from all involved particularly Kristen Stewart whose acting was actually painful.

And you're right- it is aimed squarely at teenage girls. Don't bother watching the next films it's pretty much the same boring storyline, with the same "painful" and "tortured" expressions.

Only seen the first one, and i didnt get it at all. It felt like half a story had been missed out with not much dialogue. I did like the baseball scene, but that was more the music then whatever was happning.

Derivative, puerile & badly acted nonsense for tweens. Bella is needy and pathetic and Edward is a drip. I am looking forward to Breaking Dawn though if it's true to the book lol

It's very Overated (Maybe even more Overated than that smurfs movies, what's it called, Oh Yeah, Avatar), It's very original, goes along the basic and may i say boring typical love story.

I'm not saying it's terriable but the parts I've watched are terriable, it's slow, unappealing and is not worth watching.

Lets face it, it sells because apparently the men are hot, BUT to me Taylor looks like an Indian Frog and Robert looks like Casper.

First one was decent, second one was ridiculous simply due to the whole thing of 'oh noes I cannot contact Edward' 'oh noes I think Bella is dead' issue, which is ridiculous considering she spenRAB half the movie either on a mobile phone, or emailing his sister.

They are boring. not even imature. just pointless. nobody I know wants to see them. I can't believe the level crap....

I actualy prefer Nanny McPhee and toy story 3, and they are really kiRAB films.

I wish they had made is his dark materials into really good movies. They are good, well written books, pretty dark too, and I enjoyed them. I know the reason why the movie did poorly, becuase they dumbed it down. It's a wonderful story. But chritsian groups would have gone nuts and they already have done.

I prefered interveiw with a vampire. 1994

Its based on a 4 book series that appeals to young girls and their mothers. Its filled with gushiness and all that girly stuff. Its not a matter of the generation not knowing about older vampires, its just that its been changed for this story.

Nanny McPhee? Even twilights better than that unoriginal drivel.
As much as you like dark materials, it was never good material for a film, the books simply do not translate to the form. They could have made it more blatantly anti catholic, but it woudlnt' have made the difference, the central narrative was a mess and the characters were unlikeable and generic. Thats death for the film regardless of the other content.

How do you know it won't. some day?

Yes I prefer Nanny macPhee. So what.. do you have a problem with that or something. I like sentimental drivel, it has it's charm. And I'm not saying it is brilliant, but I prefer it to twilight, the oh so wonderful teen sensation.

Plus I like Emma Tompson. It's just a bit of fun, and I like it.

I've seen all of the movies so far and they are bad,i barely made it through new moon,it was the most boring film ive ever seen,i decided 2 watch eclipse to see the vampire/werewolf faceoff, the trailer makes it sound epic but the actual fight lasts about 2mins and is terrible, watch interview with a vampire or the lost boys but avoid this series like the plague.

Maybe some genius will rejigger it to fit into a film, sure that is always possible, but i just have doubts having read the books.

My problem with nanny mcphee is that it was so overrated. I watched it and wondered what was the fuss about, it was predictable and had almost nothing original, it was cliche ridden and really unecessary. Ok for keeping the very young entertained for a little while but beyond that dvd duty I did't really see it as a film worth watching by adults. All the praising of emma thompson just went over my head i guess.
