What components should i add to my car audio system?

I have a 1997 dodge caravan. i am wondering what i should add to my van and how much it would cost to do so. What i would like to add is a head unit that can play cds and connect to an ipod. i also am wondering how much it would cost to put a couple of subs in. i am wondering if it would be worth doing so based on the cost. also, if i want to add subs, do i need to buy an amp as well? any help is appreciated
 
with subs you need an amp, a good stereo, and a car audio capacitor. all that will run you about $400. Then you'll also probably want some new speakers and tweeters to match the quality of your subs, which will cost you about 60-100 for each set of speakers and about 30-60 for some tweeters. (tweeters hit high notes and frequencies better).

all in all you're looking at around $550. This is of course assuming everything you get is new. The most expensive piece would be the stereo, which can run anywhere from 100-500 dollars, but a good one you can get for 200, you just probably won't get an LCD screen with it.
