What city do you think most Americans would say was their centre of Culture?

I was thinking of European cultural cities, London, Paris, Athens, Florence, etc. For many countries I think most people would see their cultural centre as their capital city, but for the USA its a bit different.

Washington sounds as though it has a lot of cultural heritage, but would Americans rate it above New York? Or perhaps Holywood and Los Angeles are more aligned to modern US culture. I have even heard people say that you can only find the real American heritage in Boston?

So, what city do you think most Americans would see as their best cultural centre? This is not quite the same as asking what do you think it would be, because everyone has personal favourites.

There are two words you can't use together.. AMERIKA and CULTURE because AmeriKa represents a total LACK of culture.

Paris.. Milan.. Vienna.. THAT is CULTUE..

I believe the city Americans could rate as their top cultural heritage is New York. Maybe Chicago also, because of the mafia wars. More modern as you said and interesting, because all people love movies and the star system, is Hollywood and Las Vegas.
That's my opinion without counting personal faves.
