I am looking for a small, light, cheap motorcycle to start out on. I've found a 1982 KZ 305 for $750 that looks to be in pretty good condition. It's got 15,000 miles on it and hasn't been in storage for several years like so many of the bikes I see for sale. I know I'll probably at least drop my first bike and probably wreck it, so I don't want to spend much money on it. I already plan on keeping this for only a few years, so I'm not worried about outgrowing the small engine size. So is there anything I should know about these bikes as far as reliability, parts availability, etc.?
