What book would you like to see made into a movie?

I'd really love to see Steve Alten's 'Meg' series made into a Trilogy released in the same year. They would make great actions flicks and if done by the right people *Spielberg* it could easily blow away Jaws.

I'd cast Pat Moritia as Masoa Tanaka just because of the Myagi memories.
Not too sure who I'd cast as Jonas Taylor. It need to be someone who can look to be in their late 30s early 40s in the first film and then be in their late 50s early 60s for the final film.

I didn't know 'The Lovely Bones' was being made into a film. Will be very interested in how they approach that - it was a fantastic book, but don't know how they will cover the stuff that goes on in the afterlife.

good thread! welwynrose i agree - the fog by james herbert would be awesome.
also
Prey - Michael Crichton
The Partner - John Grisham
Odd Thomas - Dean Koontz

Dune by Frank Herbert - I know it's been done, but it neeRAB to be done properly!

Dark Tower by Stephen King - he has said it will never become a film unless they can guarantee to do it properly, so fingers crossed someone decides to throw a few million at it!

Watch the Dune TV series. I think Frank Herbert's writing is difficult to make into a film.... Its too massive in its scale... and no one is going to sink

Must admit that i always am seriously disappointed when i've read the book and then seen the film version after. They never do the books any justice for me sadly...

I know what you mean but it does work sometimes, for me, personally LOTR is better than the book.
The Godfather is too.

Captain Corelli was the biggest on screen disappointment for me

I've just bought the tv series actually, but haven't got round to watching it yet! Is Children of Dune any good?

I know it's not hugely popular, but with the renewed interest in epics thanks to LOTR you'd think it would have crossed some movie moguls mind to redo Dune.

1984 has been filmed twice: an ok version in 1984 with John Hurt and a version in 1956 with Edmond O'Brien, which was apparently such a travesty that Orwell's estate managed to get it withdrawn/suppressed.
The 1956 version used to be on tv quite frequently but since the ban I doubt anyone's seen it in ages.

Stephen King's 'Gerald's Game'. It really made me poo myself. :o :D QUOTE]

I agree that this book would make a great movie. It was so scary because it was one SK's few books that COULD COME TRUE!!!. Not really about spooks or anything supernatural.

Here's hoping.
