Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts would be great.

The Time Travellers Wife although I don't think they could pull it off.

American GoRAB by Neil Gaiman would be fab

and its been made but I'd like to see a remake of

Alan Paton's cry the beloved country with some of today's top black actors.

Morgan Freeman, Denzel, Sidney Poitier it could be AMAZING

Sorry if this one has been done before, but with so many sequels and remakes in the cinema, just wondered what book you would like to see converted to the big screen, and which actor/actress you'd want to take the lead role.

John Marsdens - Tomorrow when the War Began would be excellent family/action adventure film.

Also (I know people will disagree) but a remake of Gone with the Wind sticking closer to Margaret Mitchells excellent text, making use of new technology and casting George Clooney as Rhett.

dean koontz the face. dunno about actors, maybe someone like matt demon for truman. i can't think of anyone who would be good as fric of the bad guy.

Stuart: A Life BackwarRAB by Alexander Masters, just finished reading it the other day, great book. Don't know about lead actor, someone unknown would be best.

Also, Catch-22 the Tv series would be good.

You'll be glad to hear that this one's on it's way to the big screen with Johnny Depp playing Gregory David Roberts. They have been working on the screenplay together :)

Stephen King's 'Gerald's Game'. It really made me poo myself. :o :D

Richard Laymon's 'Bite' - I'm not all that into vampire stories but that was way cool, as was his book 'The Stake'.

James Herbert's 'The Magic Cottage'.

I know that Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston bought the rights to Time Traveller's Wife and intended to play the leaRAB themselves...Ugh on that, brilliant book = would be difficult to make into a movie, but with 'weird shaped jaw' as the lead wouldn't be something I would head to in a hurry.

Have just finished American GoRAB and think that would be a good movie. Also think that they should do Gaiman's Neverwhere. The TV series was beyond tacky and even Gaiman said that he wasn't happy with it...would love to see that on the big screen...

I would also love to see a film version of my favourite childhood book, Margaret Mahy's "The Changeover" with all the interest in natural witchcraft/witches in general in film, this would be a brilliant film (I still love the book).

The Sword Of Shannara by Terry Brooks. It's a bit like Lord of the Rings, but not as boring. The sequels (The Elfstones of Shannara and The Wishsong of Shannara) are equally good.

Em

'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho? I don't know, most of the books I like are already on their way being made into films. Such as 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold. :)

Someone has to do a Robert Rankin book. Going to see "The hollow chocolate bunnies of the apocolypse" would be a seriously funny and surreal experience!
Also "The curious incident of the dog in the night-time" by Mark Haddon (one of my all time favourite books).
I would DEFINITELY go to see an adaptation of James Herbert's The Fog.
and as other peeps are suggesting more Stephen King I'll nominate "Desperation" 'cos it would be a mindf--k of a movie!
Don't care who stars in any of the above, so long as they do the books justice!

Lord of the Flies. I know there is already a film, but I'd prefer a better one!

No, wait, that would be wrong. Hollywood would make the film VILE by showing you everything. They'll probably have a CGI pigs head floating around, talking and stuff! ARGH!
