what bikes are comparable to the Kawasaki Concours?

Honda ST 1300
Yamaha FJR 1300
Triumph Sprint or Tiger.
BMW - R1200 GS.

The Concours is a nice enough bike, depends a lot on the previous owner(s).
As are all the others.
 
I would like to do a long road trip this summer, maybe drive from Colorado to Idaho to see my sister. Or explore my own state of Colorado. I used to own a KLR 650, but did not find it
very comfortable. I rarely road it to be honest because it wasn't comfortable. Am I correct
in assuming that cruisers are not good touring bikes? I do not have much to spend, perhaps
$5000 for a used bike. Is Concours the top sport touring bike? I think it would have to be a
sport touring bike. I don't want a big Gold Wing, nor could I afford one. Thanks.
