i think there are more positives than negatives in belonging to two cultures. For example i belong to the Spanish and Greek culture, each culture has different views...BUT its the best of both worlds which i enjoy. I guess the only downside is family feuds which can occur over different things, such as get togethers.

1. Best of both worlds.

2. Worst of one.

My mother is White, British - My Dad is Pakistani.

If you've ever watched the movie 'East is East', you will know me better than if we spoke for years. That is the draw back of belonging to both cultures.

Some say it makes you a richer person, with a wider view and perspective of life, some say you can choose which one you want, you have a choice, or pick the best of both and end up diluting it; but it's never been that simple and it never is because culture implies community, which implies constraints and so you're not free in any case - it has done that for me - but at the same time other's can't appreciate your broad view and so you become an outsider to both cultures and you may be forced by the conventions of the stricter culture to come into conflict with a free-er culture that you crave and so be drawn towards the unattainable and become resentful of the other.
