What are the most depressing films ever?

I was just about to write Schindlers List

Anything based on the Holocaust

There was a film on the other week about the Holocaust but the name escapes me...... The something...
:o

EDIT ...pianist! That was it. It was horrid.

i think i was about ten at the time,i watched a really sad film called radio flyer it was about two young boys bout 8 and 10 who lived with thier mum and her boyfriend, the boyfriend killed the family dog, started beating the boys so the eldest one built a plane out of all sorts of things and flew away from the violence: anyone else seen this film???

I was thinking of that one myself. Brilliant film - far and away superior to other childhood experiences of WW2 (Hope and Glory, Empire of the Sun etc.)

Oh, and I forgot to mention in my previous post:

Mike Leigh's "Naked"
Ken Loach's "My Name is Joe"

Some sad movies remind me of the fact that there is still humanity in the world, so in a way they are kind of up lifting.

Movies id say are depressing are The sound of music, or anything with Woody Allen in them.

Hows about Spider (no, not Spiderman, I am talking about Spider, its a different film!).

The Elephant Man is sort of depressing but also uplifting. Ditto ET.
