Movies that make me feel sad or deal with sad subjects don't necessarily depress me. I'm more likely to be depressed by something awful like "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" or "The Avengers" ... hang on, I'm seeing a pattern...

Yeah ditto, films with sad/depressing subjects aren't necessarily depressing films. Many of my favourite films deal with depressing subjects. I can't think of anything to add.

I don't agree that Philadelphia is depressing. It's a very sad, very emotional film IMO but I'm never depressed after watching it
