That was a mouthful. I couldn't even get the question in the question bar.

Anyway, here's an example of what I mean. By the time I got around to seeing The Matrix (2006, maybe?), all that really stylized fighting and bullet-time type action felt like a joke. I really couldn't take it seriously, because having seen it used so many types satirically, it was hard to accept that it was sincere in its purpose.

Thoughts?
You also can't downplay the significance of the PG-13 horror film becoming the standard, PJ. I know American slasher flicks are not generally thought of as the top of the art hierarchy, but at the end of the day, if you're censoring yourself for profit, something's not right.
Oh, and that should read "so many TIMES", not "so many types."
