...and they can't be adding salt to water, because i need 3, and i already have that as one of them. ...so please help me out with the other 2. thanks!
 
In making caramel or butterscotch, the boiling sugary mass increases in temperature as the water content declines.
WHile the ethylene glycol in your car's radiator is usually thought of as antifreeze, it also helps you keep from boiling over.
 
To increase the boiling point of water, you must elevate the vapor pressure.

Anything you dissolve in water will decrease the vapor pressure and therefore, elevate the boiling point. You must heat the water to a higher temperature to bring the vapor pressure back up to the boiling point. It makes no difference whether the solute is salt or antifreeze.

You can elevate the boiling point by increasing the vapor pressure by placing the water in a sealed container and heating it. This is why water boils at 255F (124C) in a car radiator.
