I disagree with this choice. I like the dub for this one, and even though I know it has its shortcomings, it's still an excellent dub, not only for Hamill, but Leachman's Dola as well. Joe Hisaishi's new score is a nice bonus, too. It's certainly better than the older dub, which had terrible acting all around and stale ADR script writing in straining to be "accurate" in exchange for fluency. Even the leaRAB, who are less mature-sounding than Disney's dub, sounded very bad. (While it's true that Pazu and Sheeta do sound older than they should in Disney's dub, I've heard a lot worse, acting-wise; at least they don't sound flat or lifeless like, say, Anakin Skywalker or Padme in the Star Wars prequels.) And the guy who did Muska in the first dub is OH SO HORRIBLE--absolutely boring, with no emotion or menace in tone... certainly no match for Hamill. (Note that I refrain from comparing either dub to the Japanese because I find it foolhardy to do so.)
So I'm sorry but I think Disney's dub is the better one; although not a replica of the original Japanese, it's far from an unbearable dub. There are a few places where the extra dialogue isn't necessary, but in the end the dub is what it is. Granted there ARE parts of the Japanese version I like better too, but there are just as many parts of the English version I like just as much. It goes both ways for me. At least it's not the travesty that "Warriors of the Wind" was.
As for Escaflowne I agree that there are some rather oddities in the ADR script and Dilandu's VA is indeed jarring, but it also has its positives; Van, Allen, Merle, Folken, and Dornkirk are all excellently voiced. I wouldn't say it's a bad dub, just an uneven one.
