Were abolitionists typically rich and educated?

I am assuming that they were educated enough to be against slavery...

but were they typically rich as well?

need answer for a paper. thanks!
 
Leading abolitionists tended to be from well educated middle class families. But there must have been working class supporters too whose names have not come down to history because they did not make speeches, write books etc.

I don't thnk it can be assumed that educated people were necessarily against slavery, plenty of well-educated people were supporters of slavery. After all, most of the Founding Fathers were very well educated men who were also slave-owners.
