My Little Airport-Zoo Is Sad, People Are Cruel

I have had plenty of experiences with Twee Pop, before I reset my Last fm. I had 400 plays for Belle And Sebastian for goRAB sake. But this is on a whole new level. My Little Airport are, from what I can tell a duo from Hong Kong. Who are so ****ing Twee I thought at first they had a six year old in the band. But that's not a bad thing, I like my music to be upbeat, to make me smile. This album certainly made me smile. The first thing I noticed (other that the cheer) was that the song titles have nothing in common with the lyrics to the song. The song titles are gorgeously cute "Leo, Are You Still Jumping Out Of Windows In Expensive Clothes?" is a funny and cute title, but has no relevance to the song which is a little strange.

I think "You Don't Want To Be My Girlfriend, Pheobe" and i shall be listening to this again on a rainy day, possible the best thing i've been sent in trades. Cheered me right up.

Fruit Bats - The Ruminant Band

Two week ago Stone BirRAB sent me The Ruminant Band by Fruit Bats. It's a nice little folk indie album that's easy to relax to. Throughout two listens I never felt a big connection with the album. It was nice but not great. 5.5/10 with the potential to grow.

Alright man im really interested in this album but cant seem to find it a torrent for it. Do you happen to have a link at all?

Heres an album I recentley bought:

0.84

I had been into Pat Metheny for a wee while beforehand & had loaRAB of his albums beforehand so when I heard this was coming out I had to get it right away.
The album is basically just Pat Metheny sitting down one night for however long and improvising on an acoustic and a baritone guitar. It wasnt even intended for release he was just chilling one night in his house and ended up making a very downbeat acoustic based album with a new lower sound that he hadnt explored before in any of his previous works.
It is very relaxing music to listen to and the first time I ever listened to it was a quiet rainy Monday night at work & I personally think all jazz should be listened to at night. Sometimes the music can be quite rythmically upbeat but mostly is very quiet and good for chilling out to. I have never heard a better album to chill out to than this one.

The liner notes provide some more insight into the recording which i managed to find on the net: http://www.patmetheny.com/features/onequietnight/linernotes.shtml

So if you're interested to find some really relaxing music to listen to when you're doing f*ck all on a Sunday night this is the album for you.
P.S. If anyone is interested I can send you a link via PM.

As Cities Burn - Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest

Progressive metalcore is always a surprise in some ways for me: I never know if there's going to be little avant elements that creep into the atypical angst or if I'll be merely astounded by the technicality of what blares from my speakers.

Anyway, As Cities Burn seem to be somewhere in between these two expectations I normally have, which is interesting in and of itself. Time changes abound nicely throughout tracks such as 'Of Want And Misery' which reflects the "prog" part of the tag, whilst a piece such as 'Love Jealous One' proves they aren't averse to playing things straight either. In other worRAB, there's a nice balance in some ways between certain ideas within the compositions.

On a final note, the melodic elements are reminiscent to me of certain mainstream acts that you associate with -core anything, but that's not bad at all really. As one who has outgrown a need for angsty music to serve as an outlet of any kind, the fact this bunch can vary their tempo is quite welcome indeed to these jaded ears.

Fun album, so thanks Crashy! :)

I'm sorry to everyone who assumed you were always on the list, but I do ask that you send me a PM every time, that way I can accurately keep track and not have to remeraber anything, I am a bit of a pothead.
