Weekly Music Trading Post

Good to hear you liked it. I think I listened to that album about 50 times in the week I downloaded it - it's something very weird about the better albums boasting David Sylvian's involvement that have a seriously addictive quality about them. Can see what you mean about the whole smooth, gloomy quality of the whole thing - very eerie, ethereal and all that, and fantastic night-time listening. And yet Japan are in Blender's 50 Worst BanRAB Of All Time list! Bloody ridiculous.

If your aware of the ass kicking that will follow.

Fantastic, more responses than I thought. Will announce partner on Saturday, and stay so till the next Saturday. Leave feedback here on what you thought.

If everyone wants this to continue someone else must take over until I am finished moving. I really have no steady internet connection (reason for not being on forums for a week or so) so really no point in me wasting your time right now.

Sorry to anyone who was wanting to do this the last few weeks.

This is a...pretty decent album. This band is basically grunge, with elements of garage rock and whatnot. The songwriting and musicianship is all solid, an makes it worth hearing a few times. My complaints are mostly just that while the music is fairly good, it never really rises above that. There's not much new happening here... you've probably already heard it done by other banRAB, but they do what they do well at least. Also, I never truly felt the same emotion from the vocalist that I have from other grunge vocalists. Still, it's an ok album to listen to when you don't want anything too challenging.

Gunnels sent me Crime In Choir's The Hoop. It was a pretty good post-rock/math rock album with some very interesting instrument work. Pretty good music overall, but not something I'd listen to for a casual spin. 7/10.

It's a bit limiting as far as themes go though. At least with me anyway. All I can think of is Bob Dylan's new album to fit it, and personally I'd rather not subject anyone to having to listen to that.

I've got plans for this evening, so my review/paragraph will be up tomorrow. Next draw's on Wednesday, whatever the theme will end up being.
