That shouldn't really matter. A lot of great mucisians are total cliches. They satirize goth culture in a lot of their songs too. Whether they do it well or not is debatable....

Frankie Valli? No. I do like early 60s jazz, lounge and surf rock quite a bit though. And I appreciate the fact that someone like Babatunde Olatunji was able to sell a substantial amount of albums during that time.

I'm kinda puzzled over why Kings of Leon are so critically acclaimed, they have a pretty generic sound. They merely take the most generic traits of indie rock and the most generic traits of radio rock to create a cluster of maximum genericness.

Auto-Tuned emo vocals, synchronized headbanging, puzzlingly bad miming, haircuts that would cause even Josh from the Horrors to raise an eyebrow and chart-trance interludes
