We own a 92 Accord. It's a great car.
Recently, we had the a/c recharged. There is a minor coolant leak somewhere. But it's not anything major.
I know that during the summer months, cars tend to overheat more. Why is that? Is it because of greater usage of the air conditioner in the cars? Is it because of the hotter temperatures in the air itself?
Up until a couple of weeks ago, the electric fan never came on when the car was not running. But ever since we got the a/c recharged, whenever we drive the car, after we stop and turn off the ignition, it often cuts on the fan. I didn't realize that the fan could cut on with the car not running. Why does it do this?
By the way, the water pump is brand new on the engine. I have noticed that the coolant temperatures have been slightly elevated, especially after driving long distances. I pay attention to the temp guage. But thus far, we have not had any problems with the engine overheating. It just concerns me that the fan has been cutting on even after I take the key out of the ignition.
