We are not amused - Unfunnily Films!?

Me, Myself and Irene.

Bill Murray couldn't have saved that film, and Jim Carrey doing funny faces, can't make up for utter s**t on screen. Add Stuck on Me/You, whatever it's called to that catergory.

The Boys in Blue with Cannon and Ball.

Didn't even smile. Not once.

IMDB reviewer hugh1971 sums it up perfectly:-

"Utter tripe - a pointless remake of Will Hay's superb 'Ask A Policeman' starring the unfunny and charmless Cannon and Ball - a straight man and a 'comedian' whose one joke consists of snapping his braces. Don't bother."

i laughed out loud a few times at Me,Myself and Irene...dont hate me!
particularly his accurate description of Renee Zelwegger's face

The Hitch-Hikers Guide to The Galaxy is possibly one of the funniest Radio series, books and TV series ever made. The movie is about as funny as an ingrowing toenail. Not only did it have all the jokes removed, but it completely missed the point of the other formats in that the humour is all in the characters' and narrator's dialogue. Which are what the movie had so nearly mutilated beyond all recognition. A sad sad day for HHGTTG fans like me, who were frankly embarassed by it. It makes my head hurt trying to imagine what they thought they were doing with that mess. Pitiful.

Similar scenario to the film versions of 'The Saint' and 'The Avengers'?

I read a DVD review of 'THHGTTG' today and the film was described as 'great fun'! I don't think so!

Austin Powers!! Pile of crap.

I remember watching it and cringing.

However,I remember many years back 'Naked Gun' getting cheers and a round of applause at a normal, everyday week-day showing.

Maybe the problem with this is that some people are a bit too close to the original. This isn't a criticism, by the way. I just can't help feeling that when something is so perfect (which in the eyes of many, the original HHGGTG is), anything which tries to "reinvent" it isn't going to live up to expectations.

I don't know the radio series that well but enjoyed the TV series. I also enjoyed the film but I appreciate that it's different from the original incarnations. If you go to the film with an open mind, perhaps it's more enjoyable?

FWIW, I'm exactly the same with Doctor Who. When I heard there was to be a new series, I was both excited and dreading it because I didn't want it to spoil "my" series. When it was shown, there were the occasional places where I cringed a bit and thought, "Oh no - why did they do that?" but the positive aspects of it far outweighted the negative.

Anyway, I digress (to quote Ronnie Corbett!). So, funny films which aren't - I agree about American Pie (done before, and better, by Lemon Popsicle).

Saw it on dvd but thought Napoleon Dynamite was one of the biggest piles of crap I've ever seen. I can't believe I sat thorough it all........

Whilst I didn't think it was a heaping pile of ****, I wasn't all that keen! My website review gave it a fairly average 2 stars...

The only time i laughed at napolean dynamite was when I fell over on the way to the kitchen (getting a knife to end the torture of the tripe on my screen)

Erm, can't remember what the film was called... it was that bad.

It was a kind of comedy caper from about 5 years ago, and starred many British 'comedy' actors such as Lee Evans (can't stand the bloke). It was like one long chase and had a hot air balloon at the end.

If anyone knows what I'm talking about, don't post the title of the film. It might cause poor unsuspecting people to go and watch it... the most unfunny funny film ever made.
