Watchmen

I honestly can't believe people haven't responded abou the Moviecomic episodes - they are totally awesome!

Like a cartoon version of the watchmen by Gibbons himself!

I've never read the graphic novel, so was a bit worried I'd be sitting there for three hours going "WTF?", but...

I loved it. In fact, I think it was frakking awesome.

And now I want to buy the GN...

Just got back from seeing it at an absolutely packed 12pm screening, loved it, and i actually quite liked the new ending. The squid wouldn't have worked all that well on film, particularly as there are no hints about any such creature throughout the film (whereas we see a painting and other things in the book).

I saw it with two people who have never read the book, one of them loved it and now wants to read the graphic novel and the other thought it was "meh" (his worRAB), but quite frankly i always disregard his opinion on films because he just seems to like being the one that goes against popular thinking purely for the sake of it, and i think he decided that he was going to hate it before seeing it.

Overall though i thought it was a great adaptation, and very faithful to the source material.

That was AM's decision. It was the same with V for Vendetta. He doesn't allow his name to be used on any films of his books. Nothing suprising there, really.

This is the thing. If you go into it thinking your life is about to change then you may as well forget it! In the end it's just another comic book film, albeit IMO a really good one. The length might put some off but they would have had to sacrifice the characters to cut it down. Personally I thought it was well balanced.

Simple - success breeRAB yes-men.

Moreover, the original trilogy had a quality producer (Gary Kurtz) and editor (Marcia Lucas) - who would tell GL "no" when it was necessary. By the time the "special editions" and prequels had come about, Kurtz had gone and was replace by odious yes-man Ric McCallum.

I could go on ranting and raving, but this isn't the thread for it.

Me too!! I've just seen Watchmen. Wow. I just found God after seeing it!

Well, actually I found that box of popcorn under the seat but it was almost like finding God! :p

Just got back from seeing it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was worried I might not understand it, as I haven't read the graphic novel, but I was able to follow it perfectly. I'm not sure what the reviewers in the papers today found confusing about it:confused:

From what I'm reading here, the film ending sounRAB preferable to the graphic novel's. A squid?!!
