Watchmen

Oh Dear! You shouldn't have to resort to Other Means for watching such a spectacle.

Tell you what, on March 6th slap some makeup on and I will take you to the cinema. I am sure it would be alright :-)

PG-13 Would have ruined Watchmen, the scene with Rorschach and the murdered girl is gruesome but necessary to understanding his anger.

Saw this today, and whilst watching it I got a bit bored, mainly due to the flashbacks that were kind of overly long. But by the end of it I absolutly LOVED it and can see why the flashbacks were there.

I think i'm going to go back and see it again now that I know what the pacing of the movie is like so I can maybe focus without losing attention.

It looked visually fantastic too.

Ah, that'd be telling...

Seriously though, you don't have to have superpowers to be able to punch through concrete.

Full trailer comes out on Nov 14th with Quantum of Solace!

Miller has been living off past reputation for years now. The Dark Knight Returns is indeed a great book, but his recent writing is just junk. And, if The Spirit is anything to so by, I hope no one lets him sit in a director's chair again anytime soon. :p

To be fair, GL is very good at ideas and characters (Jar Jar aside) - he's just terrible at writing scripts. It's why Empire, Jedi and the Indiana Jones films are so good.

Gorgeousgirl, heres an idea - LIE!

"Ticket person: What age are you?

You: 18..

Ticket person: Date of birth?

You: *lie*

Ticket person: Lies..

You: No it's not, how dare you!

Ticket person: Okay, I'm sorry...go on through."

Or alternatively you could say that you have the exact same curious case as Benjamin Button, and you've actually been around for quite a while..but just age younger.

Why do a near perfect adaptation of the graphic novel then stick in your own ending:mad:

I for one think the original ending would have worked. It spoilt an otherwise good film for me!

Honestly?

I just didnt get what all the fuss was about. Dont get me wrong, it was an ok movie, i dont wish i had 162 minutes of my life back but it wasnt as 'deep' and 'turns the whole superhero genre on its head' as i'd been led to believe.

Dare i say it, like most niche things with a die hard fanbase, it seemed a little pretentious?

The book's deeper, obviously - there's only so much you can do in a film and get the plot in too. Plus, of course, the book turned the superhero genre on its head over 20 years ago, and a lot of superhero stuff since then has been massively influenced by it, so seeing it for the first time now it doesn't seem so "new".

Maybe it's an age thing, but I'm old enough to remember when Star Wars first appeared, and was astonished at how much GL had clearly borrowed from existing works. So I can't think of him as a good ideas man, either. :)

What he was absolutely brilliant at, was spotting the opportunity to flog merchandising from his movies, in ever expanding circles. What I don't understand, is how having made so much money, he simply will not employ some really good scriptwriters.

The fact Dr Manhattan's cock was out so much indicated that Alan Moore finally has a movie that stays true to his vision.

Let's hope he does a volte face about screen credit.

Was it me or was Alan Moore omited from the opening credits of the watchmen? I know that hollywood trashed from hell, destroyed v for vendetta, and the league of extraordinary gentleman?, well i will leave that upto you!!! But you know what Alan?, sometimes hollywood does get it right! Do your self a favour, get over it and get down to a cinema asap, please dont wait for blueray or dvd, this film has to bee seen on the big screen! Amazing.
