Wanted

And it seems that Empire are starting to lose their credibility now. How on earth could they rate this pap four out of five is a joke. Two out of five max, is more like it. I am glad I stopped my subscription to their magazine now. I started back in '92 and then stopped it around 2005/06. They are going down hill fast.

One scene in particular made me shout F.O at the screen through it being completely fake. I dont mind fantasy and made up stunts [some that defy gravity] but this one really does test your willingness to say ok to such things happening onscreen.

Jolie and that goon were in a sports can racing down the street, Jolie decides to try and get all fancy with the shooting and hangs out the front of the car where the wind screen used to be and fires at the cars behind them. THEN the car flips and hits the side of a bus and causes the bus to crash on it's side and the car drives along the side of the toppled bus and off the end of it, and down the street and away.

Anyone gives this movie four or more neeRAB to take a breather and think for a moment. Instead of instinctively jumping up and down and clapping their hanRAB with joy at eye candy scenes that are there for the sake of it and not much else.

Went to see it last night and really enjoyed it. Those things, ie bullets bending etc you just have to believe for the purpose of the film.

Some of the stunts were blooming great.

While the guys had Angelina, as girls can have a shirtless buff James McAvoy!!!

I saw it yesterday and thought that it is quite possibly the worst movie I have ever had to sit through.

Why? Where do I start?....The bullet time was completely overused (which as a style has been completely overdone on the whole since the Matrix came out nearly a decade ago)

see, two things here says to me that you went in with the wrong expectations.

and

this isn't a film you go and see for good performances and a good storyline. this is a film that you watch with a grin on your face and clap like a demented gibbon monkey at the outrageously over the top action scenes.

It had a loose storyline to hang it all together, that was fine. I wasn't really paying attention to the quality of the performances to be honest, because I was paying more attention to the over the top action scenes.

I like a good, compelling film as much as the next man with actors who immerse themselves in the role and get me emotionally attached to them (Ledger's Joker for example), but by the same token i also love stupid, cheesy action films like Wanted where all the roles could be filled by wooden spoons as long as there's choreographed gunfights, loud music and angelina jolie's bare ass :)

I don't personally have low aspirations when I go and see a film like this. I just know what i'm going to see before I see it.

if you're going to go and see a film like this and analyize the script, the plot, the performances and whether or not you actually cared for any of the characters then I really wonder why you bother in the first place.

(and when I say 'you' I mean it in a generic sense rob, I totally respect your opinion)

this film, like shoot em up, for me, was always about the visuals. shoot em up had brilliantly over the top gunfights backed by a pumping heavy metal soundtrack and I loved it.

that was despite having one of the most ridiculously thin plots holding it all together that i've ever seen.

I'll go and watch any film (except westerns) and i'll gladly go in knowing nothing about what i'm about to see and hope for the best, but when i see trailers for films like this I go simply because all I want is just mindless entertainment to cheer me up and purely on that aspect I personally feel that Wanted delivered in spades.

Fantastic film. The best action film since The Matrix. Really great to see James MacAvoy become a big star (used to love him in Shameless). Can't wait for the sequels!

'What the f*ck have you done lately*

see that bit, i really liked because with his little speech leading up to that - it was quite inspirational in a weird sense.

Really enjoyed the movie. As long as you go in expecting an exciting shoot 'em up and don't try to over analyse you'll enjoy it. The first 10 minutes really set things up with amazing visuals.

I honestly felt like giving a standing ovation as the film ended after he said it. 90 mins of sheer adrenaline. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and jumped out of it on more than one occasion. I took a friend with me who doesn't like big american action films but he was blown away also. Great film.
