VISTA!!! why buY?

What kind of question is this? It depends on what you use your computer for and what you need in an OS. The upgrade may or may not be worth it to you yet.
 
If you have enough ram the superfetch will probably be a godsend, as will the new shadowcopy and indexed searching ... Personally, I'm waiting until video performance is at least on par with XP before I switch
 
i'm pretty happy with osx running winxp through parallels

however i will have to learn vista because i'm sure some of my clients will have it installed...i'm betting 3 months at most before it totally dies
 
Wow, you're an idiot. WHAT DO YOU USE YOUR COMPUTER FOR?

Internet/bullshit.
Audio production.
Video editing.
Digital imaging.
Gaming.
etc.

What's better depends on what you use your computer for. DirectX 10 could mean jack shit to you if you use your computer for data management or something.

If you're asking in general, do some fucking research. You can find that info within minutes at Microsoft's site instead of waiting for OTers to reply with something you want to read.
 
So you're asking all these questions just to pirate it? What do you have to lose? Try it out. I have it on dual boot right now but i'm not buying it yet because it's no good for audio production. I'll install it on a gaming PC i'm gonna build soon though for DX10 games.
 
iiiiii gettt it. You prolly dont know shit about computers or anything at all. I'm sure Microsoft would have a great marketing campaign if they used you to design it.

You guys are too fucking stupid to do your own research. This guy asked for advantages of Vista over XP. Advantages in which respect? If you do audio production like me, there aren't many advantages yes. If you're a gamer, the main advantage is DirectX 10. If you dick around and don't really do anything on your computer, then there are new security options and a nicer GUI. If you're a parent, there are better parental controls ETC.

General advantages/differences? It's a new OS. Look it up. Why would anyone post everything that's new in Vista when you can find that information in less than 5 minutes by searching M$ site or Google, or are you too incompetent to do that?
