Very scary horror films

Hello!

Can anyone recommend any really scary horror films for tomorrow night please, preferably not any teen slasher stuff like scream etc. I was thinking of 'The Orphanage' but any other suggestions would be most welcome.

Thank you!

That's hard because what one person might find terrifying, someone else might find it to be complete rubbish.

I haven't found a film that has truly terrified me and i've seen ALOT of horror movies.

My favourite though is 'The Descent'...it tackles claustrophobia, being trapped, the dark and the fear of something lurking in a cave that wants to kill you.

You wont get much scarier than that film, have to watch it in complete silence though, its all the little noises which give it its effect.....

Horror doesn't really scare me now, but could try these:

The Descent
Session 9
Trick 'r Treat
The Omen(original please)
[REC], the sequel is also out in other countries if you can manage to see it.
The Changeling
Paranormal Activity(out at cinemas)
The Nameless

See the film section for more, there are a lot of topics on horror film recommendations. Should have been your first port of call. :p

Exorcist 3, The original didn't frighten me but with Brad Dourif (doing a job comparable to Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter) playing a possessed serial killer inhabiting the body of Father Karras (who dived down the stairs in the first movie) in the third installment, it's a fantastic film and the proper sequel to The Exorcist, it's best to ignore the nonsense of the second film.

Brad Dourif Clip 1
Brad Dourif Clip 2

It gives the same dramatic effect as Se7en but also with a lot of shocks too.

This scene you mean muahahahaha! :D

I agree that the Omen and the Descent are good.

I thought Event Horizon was pretty good and actually scary-
Can't believe it only has a 6.3 rating on IMDB :S

Yes, but if someone can recommend something, I can at least use it as a starting point?

Hmmmm...i've heard the ending is really frightening...

I thought this would be "terrifying" as alot of people have said it's brilliant. It's alright, but it didn't scare me. There was just one bit that I found to be abit creepy (it involves dragging and legs ;)) but other than that, it's not scary. It's good because it's different and the acting is surprisingly good for an amateur film.
