Very educated but unemployable?

Be realistic. Does he really want to work? What job did he intend to get with such a degree in the first place. Maybe apply to the same schools where he got his degrees and apply for a teaching position. Or apply to a church.

My husband is having trouble getting a job. He's VERY well-educated (Ivy-league Master's degree) and really sharp, but he has never really worked before because he's always been in school. Both his undergrad and grad degrees were in Religious Studies -- which haven't exactly made him very employable.

Now, in this economy he can't even get a job answering phones.

He sometimes wants to go back to school for another degree in something that will get him a job.....but he's such a perfectionist that he's really afraid of failure and wasting money on more education that won't get him a job.

Any advice?

Right now the job market is so bad that even people with experience in actually having a job, have a hard time getting anything.

Since he is used to the school environment... why not look into a teaching position. Many "perfect" students simply ended up working for the University that made them into what they are.
