Verizon Contract Renewal Perks????

What kind of renewal perks can expect from Verizon at the end of my 2 year contract. The new phones are going to cost me at least $300 to continue my contract or I will have to jump ship to another carrier for new activation perks. Has anyone renewed lately and gotten some sweet offers???

That is the problem. That isn't a deal to me. The industry is enslaving dumb kids and their even dumber parents. The companies are surely creating unborn genations of cell phone junkies. Verizon doesn't care if I jump ship because they have made it life critical to own a cell phone and be in the 7th grade.

Why the ranting and raving?

It used to be that you could do a one year contract and get a free phone. Then it became two years. Now, unless you want the bare minimum in features, and proabably dependablity, you have to pay upwards of $150 for a G1-s Starphone. Why this one? I would guess it is the closest Verizon workhorse you can find outside of Nextels contractor models, and the Moto v6o series phones.

that is why I just want to get a phone working on my line, so I can study, shop, and then get a new(er) phone. If Verizon keeps busting my antenna, I am going to jump ship. (by the way, Verizon sucks in Coastal Rhode Island. This area is one of the hottest real estate areas on the East coast, but the tower investment has been non existent. Tmobile, on the other hand sounds hifi in comparison.

Up to $100 for one phone of the three in family packages is a very poor offer to retain a customer. With competition and their new activation offers....They should consider making up the difference with service credits, like Directv does anytime there is a problem.

May I suggest you renew your phones online, there are Buy One Get up to 3 free offers. Keep in mind when you sign up for a competitor you get the new customer pricing, when you renew with Verizon you not only get the New Customer Pricing, but up to an additional $100 off the primary number with the New Every Two credit. When you order online you also get any mail in rebates instantly, however you can always get the Buy One Get up to 3 free in the store as well.

As far as your comments about DirecTV offering service credits, I used to work for them, they give you 5 dollars off your bill for 3 months, or for 6 months depending on the problem. If you have their premium plan you can get 20$ off your bill for 6months if its a large problem. They also give showtime free for up to 6 months (showtime sucks btw). Sometimes they will discount HBO for 6 months, but if you add it up, its rarely over 100$.

WRONG. When you renew with Verizon, you do NOT get new customer pricing as suggested above, your cost is many times HIGHER. For example, a Razr2 V9m is available with Verizon service from Amazon for $49.99 for new customers. Sprint has a similar deal as well.

When you renew at Verizon, your reward for 2 years as a customer (not the primary number) is the opportunity to pay full price, $299.99, minus a $50 rebate. If you look online, there is a $50 instant rebate - but the $50 rebate offer for 2 years no longer applies!! So -the same $50 rebate is available anytime, all you need to do is go online!

I've had a series of annoying calls from Verizon trying to get me to sign up for another 2 years. I can see why, Verizon makes more profit on renewals than on new contracts. I looked into it and am now very dissatisfied. Calls to customer service got me nowhere.

It's very misleading. I'm being told this is an opportunity to get a great deal on a new phone, and all I need to do is sign up for another 2 years. NOT SO, there is no deal. I confirmed that I can't even replace my existing phone with a new equivalent for free from the same manufacturer, the rebate offer is inadequate!! It would cost me an extra $39 plus tax on the list price.

It's a scam. Verizon treats returning customers like dirt.

Bluegs

What I suggest you do is call a verizon rep (*611 from your cell phone) and try and talk to them into getting you the best deal. More often then not, they'll give you a better deal than ones you find in the store.

For starters quit blaming Verizon for the cost of the phones. the phones u used to get for free years ago with a one year contract were just a simple analog phone with voice calling only.

LOL...couldn't have said it better myself.

Everybody now a days want it all, and want it for next to nothing.

You could apply this to just about everything out there today....cars, houses, food, etc.

The issue I have is that to upgrade to a BB through VZW new every two costs me $370. If I signed up with AT&T through Amazon, a new (and better) BB nets ME $75. So where's the incentive to stick with VZW? I've been a customer for years, but they offer no incentives to stick with them. It's a shame, because I've had great service with them. The best they can do is give me another $50 off IF I choose the unlimited, $100 a month plan. Nice...
