various culture's concepts of fate and time etc. question?

Can someone explain to me what various ancient culture's conceps of fate and time were? For example, i think in China ppl used to believe that ppl who were destined to meet were bound by an invisible red string. in greek mythology there were the three fates, who controled some sort of string... can someone please enlighten me?
 
every culture, even American, has that concept.

i guess in mine (Mexican-American) life is what you make of it. especially by working hard. American culture is good because you get to choose what type of work you like.

but the STRINGS thing is pretty interesting. i hope u really find the answer to your question.
 
In brief all people agree that fate and time often slips. One has to have strong grip. That is possible only by maintaining discipline, organized way of living, systematic way of living, positive attitude, good vision, righteousness, dynamic and alert living, etc. Fate can be won over by clever mind and time can be won over by keeping constant vigil.
