Valley of the Muses 40.5 (Aragorn/Arwen LOTR): Board Closing, But Muses Are Eternal!

Goodness! I was trying so hard to find this thread...I finally had to look for it in the depths of the couples board.

Anyways, I thought I would do a little bumpage and a little loving. I just watched the trilogy all over again, and got inspired to come here and post. I just hope that the Valley hasn't quite emptied!

Yeah, my Dad still treats me like I'm little. I think it's a natural fatherly tendancy. I think my biggest problem with Elrond was concealing the existance of their son, it was the only thing that sorta ticked me.

It does add that special something extra to Arwen’s sacrifice. I really love couples that explore the whole not sunshine and bunnies side of love. The angst really gets to me though I don’t always like it (i.e. Will/Elizabeth in PoTC) it just rings truer for me somehow. I don’t know anyone who has a perfect cookie cutter relationship.

War Stories is one of my favorite episodes of Firefly but I can see what you mean about Mal/Zoe but I found that more amusing than anything. I don’t know, despite that the furious loyalty you described makes me think maybe, but only, ONLY post Serenity. I adork Alan Tudyk something fierce. Funny thing, when I went to see I Think I Love My Wife they had a trailer for Waitress and when I went to see Waitress they had a trailer for Death At A Funeral. I was very giggly in both those moments.

We should really fix that. I can't believe it.

He was indeed and you would never let him get to her. He was such a said and lovie puppet. *pets him*

Yeah, only you but only you would have come back to help take care of the Valley again.

How sad am I that with The Hobbit getting greenlit I'm a bit sad that there is not A/A in that work. Maybe they could like insert some, maybe?

Why are we so far back, not right!!

I still love them but i suck sometimes at posting, lol!!

I wish we got more AA scenes, i dunno maybe it would have been cool if Arwen was at Helm's Deep, just for AA scenes, lol!

Yeah, Aragorn liked Eowyn (which was okay - Eowyn's cool), but he loved Arwen. That never changed. And Arwen knew it, knew that even when he was telling her their "dream" was over, that it was because he loved her and wanted her to have the chance to leave and go with her people to the Undying LanRAB. That love is what helped her keep her belief that there was still hope.

Which dress...I love two of Eowyns...the white with the gold and the white with the black velvet? I also like the coronation dress for association...it's the definitive muse moment.

I'd love to be a muse. What about the muse of sunshine, I don't think it's already taken.

I'm happy that we have all those ships in common;). I really have to find some Aragorn/Arwen icons.

 The "IT couple of Middle-Earth". :D I like the way that's phrased. Just because it's so true. You know, their story is so lovely, but it's also heartbreaking at the same time. :( Bittersweet almost, if you think about it.

I like that shippy. :) I hate a shipper heart, I tend to couplize (so not a word) in most shows and books. What can I say, I'm a sucker for romance.

I think that's part of what drew me to Aragorn to much, he never wavered in his love for her. In alot of couples the men would be alot more attentive to a beautiful young woman like Eowyn than he was. He knew where he was meant to be.

What made me a bit more understanding was when I realized that not only was he leaving Arwen to eventually die of grief (although it would be a long time from then, to an immortal elf it wouldn't seem that way), but that if Arwen didn't leave with them, there would be absolutely no way of ever having contact with her family again. No e-mail, no long-distance phone calls, no visits at the holidays. Nothing.

Which of course, makes Arwen's sacrifice even more meaningful. She loved Aragorn enough to turn her back on everything - her people and family, as well as her immortality.

Yes, that was lovely. The movie doesn't make the connection of Galadriel being Arwen's grandmother, does it? I think I learned that later, when reading the books.

Yeah, I'm CC in Firefly, too. I honestly can't ever see Mal/Zoe myself, but that's because of the end of War Stories, I think. While Mal and Zoe have a fierce devotion to each other, it's because they fought in the war together and afterwarRAB continued that loyalty to each other. The way they acted at the end of War Stories kind-of nipped any idea of sexual tension between them in the bud for me. But I can understand people wanting to explore UC pairings in fan fic.

I thought Serenity ended with definite Mal/Inara progress. Loved her smile to him at the end. :)

I think I looked once, and didn't see any threaRAB for Firefly couples over here. :look:
