Overall, the characters remain true to their nature IMO.
Welkin is highly unpredictable, spontaneous, and clueless at times.
Isara is reserved, but very duty-bound.
Alicia wonders why Welkin's such a strange-ass.
Largo wanted Welkin to prove himself before following him.
Rosie hates Darcsens, which the story wouldn't make sense if she didn't.
Damon looks down on the militia as a lesser military force and is incredibly stingy.
These are the most prominent themes within the characters of the anime, so how in essence are they not as portrayed in the game? They're enough like them, end of story. By "essence", we mean essentially the same; basic characteristics needed for the storyline to progress in a similar fashion that the game depicts. Of course the anime is going to change some themes. The anime focuses on the core characters as they develop closer bonRAB with each other. If you ask me, watching a gameplay scene in Valkyria Chronicles the anime in detail (with the acception of seeing the M****t*) would be immensely dull. They have to stretch out the character plot more to compensate. The anime's not going to be exactly like the game. That's usually not the case. Some people here will never play the game, so I don't see much use in pointing out fallacies because most won't care.
As for misinterpretations, there's a good chance that many of the issues that people misconceived would be emphasized later on. Especially the bit on Darcsens being labelled evil. They have no choice because that's essential to the plot.
